This is the second of Stieg Larsson's series, and I liked it a lot more than the first, which I really liked. I was glad he spent more time on Salander's backstory and less time of Blumkvist, who just isn't as interesting.
I am looking forward to the third book coming out, so much so that I may splurge for the hardcover edition.

I have yet to read this series. I don't know why I keep putting it off... I guess because people keep checking it out of the library before I can get my hands on it.
I've read the first two, and also seen the first two movies, which are really good. I work in a used bookstore, and the third only came through once, in hardcover, and somebody else bought it before I could! But I am eager to see how the story resolves in that one.
Completely agree with your assessment.
Also heard his girlfriend is planning on completing the fourth book. I wonder if she can capture his tone.
